JPMorgan Chase has hired Amy Lissauer, a veteran adviser to companies facing pressure from activist investors. She will join the bank as the global head of Shareholder Engagement and M&A Capital Markets (SEAMAC) later this year.

Lissauer was previously the global head of Activism & Raid Defense at Bank of America, where she advised companies including Southwest Airlines in its defense against Elliott Investment Management.

JPMorgan has been expanding its team that works with corporate clients under attack from prominent hedge funds. The bank's decision to hire Lissauer is part of this effort, as activism defense becomes a lucrative business for major investment banks and boutiques.
