JPMorganChase's Seattle Tech Center Shifts Gears as AI Changes Engineering
Ture Armas, the new leader of JPMorganChase's Seattle Tech Center, is changing the way engineers approach their job as AI technology advances.
Armas said that instead of waiting for business analysts to hand them fully written requirements, engineers will need to work more closely with the business and model its problems. This shift means that 'soft skills' are now becoming 'hard skills,' he explained.
The traditional approach, where engineers would receive detailed specifications from business analysts, is giving way to spec-driven development, in which engineers write their own specifications for AI coding tools.
JPMorganChase has a significant presence in Seattle, with over 400 employees and about 50 open positions at the tech center. The bank occupies five floors in the downtown JPMorganChase Center, including the largest floor, which is dedicated to technology.
