Juanita G. Butterfass, an avid music lover and devoted mother of five, passed away on July 21st, 2026, at the age of 94 years and 39 days. Born on a farm in Eagle Bend, Todd County, Minnesota, Juanita grew up with a strong sense of community. After graduating from high school, she attended St. Cloud State before moving to Minneapolis for work.
At Honeywell, Juanita landed a job that would become the foundation for her future family life. In 1956, she married Duane Butterfass, and together they raised their children in Golden Valley, Minnesota. Juanita's dedication as a stay-at-home mom earned her recognition within her church community.
Juanita's talents went beyond music; she was an accomplished cook and baker, famous for her signature bars, which earned her the nickname 'Queen of Bars.' Her culinary creations were a staple at family gatherings and special occasions. As she grew older, Juanita resided at Lake Ridge Assisted Living in Buffalo, Minnesota, before transitioning to the Oasis Center for end-of-life care.
Juanita is survived by her five children: Karen, Steven, Brian, Susan, and Sharon; bonus daughter Laurie; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Her passing leaves behind a family who will deeply miss her love, guidance, and musical talents.
