Judge Orders 3M, DuPont, Honeywell to Face Firefighter PFAS Claims

A US District Judge has ruled that 3M, DuPont, and Honeywell must face claims from Connecticut firefighters who say they were exposed to PFAS chemicals through their protective gear.

The lawsuit, filed by firefighter unions and individual firefighters, alleges that the gear contained 3M's Scotchlite reflective material and DuPont's Kevlar, and that Honeywell manufactured turnout gear with PFAS exposure risks.

Judge Alvin Thompson said the plaintiffs had plausibly claimed that 3M had a duty to warn people about PFAS risks and had acted negligently. The ruling allows the case to move forward rather than being dismissed at an early stage.
