Kadena-bound F-15EX Eagle II Aircraft Departs Boeing Ahead of 2027 Deployment

The US Air Force's newest F-15EX Eagle II aircraft has departed Boeing's St Louis facility, marking an important milestone in its deployment to Kadena Air Base in Japan. The aircraft is scheduled to begin arriving at Kadena in fiscal year 2027, where it will replace the legacy F-15C/D fleet.

The F-15EX combines upgraded avionics and increased payload capacity with multirole capabilities, making it a significant upgrade for the US Air Force's tactical airpower. Brigadier General John Gallemore, commander of the 18th Wing at Kadena, said that this is an important step towards bringing the F-15EX to Japan.

The deployment of the F-15EX represents continued US investment in Kadena's permanent fighter force and will reinforce operational readiness. It also creates opportunities for training and integration with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and other allied and partner forces.
