Kakao and Disney Team Up for K-Pop IP Projects
Kakao Entertainment has partnered with Disney Korea on around ten K-pop IP projects that pair the companies' stories and characters. The partnership, announced on September 16, will combine Kakao's IP business across the K-culture ecosystem with Disney's portfolio of story assets.
The projects will span music, content, commerce, and live entertainment, among other areas. Kakao Entertainment said it expects this collaboration to offer global fans a unique kind of joy and inspiration that they have never experienced before.
The two companies are also discussing the creation of a fund under the tentative name 'K-culture fund.' However, details on the proposed fund's size and projects it would back were not disclosed.
