Karl Holz Keeps Busy as Senior Advisor at McKinsey & Co.
Karl Holz, a Disney veteran and former president of Disney Cruise Line, has been keeping busy since his retirement in 2018. With an illustrious career spanning 22 years at the Walt Disney Co., Holz has transitioned into a new role as senior advisor at McKinsey & Co.
At McKinsey, Holz works with various businesses and industries, including advising the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) on its travel and tourism initiatives. He also serves on the founding board of Cruise Saudi, which aims to develop the country into a world-class cruise operator. Holz chairs the Aroya brand's board, born from the crown prince's vision to create a cruise product for Saudis.
Despite challenges due to the Iran conflict, the Saudis remain committed to Aroya's long-term potential. Holz also inked the newbuild contract for Amangati and chaired Aman at Sea until June 2026. He believes the yacht will set a new standard in luxury travel. As an independent director of AmaWaterways, Holz thinks the river cruise line has 'significant opportunity' and is led by a 'great group of people.'
Holz's work at Disney gave him a diverse range of expertise, including parks, industrial development, worldwide tours, engineering, environmental responsibility, professional development, and diversity and inclusion. As president of Disney Cruise Line, he guided the expansion in 2011-2012 and committed to building a new Wish-class of ships. The series now includes four ships, with a potential fifth if counting Japan's Oriental Land Co.'s newbuild.
