Teddy Gitonga's journey from hitting rock bottom in Kenya to becoming a security guard in Qatar is an inspiring tale of perseverance. At 38, he returned to his mother's house after a difficult year of setbacks and poor decisions.

With no clear way forward, he spent seven months restrategising before finally getting a chance to work in Qatar. He had initially considered Poland but dropped the route due to doubts about the recruitment agency and stalled visa interviews.

Gitonga's breakthrough came when his cousin connected him with a local agent in Doha. He cleared the physical assessment, sat an online interview, and was eventually offered a job as a security guard.

Today, Gitonga weighs around 70 kilograms, a notable increase from his recruitment weight of 61 kilograms. He attributes his newfound success to a shift in perspective: 'If you are going through a storm, breaking piece by piece or trying to establish yourself, never give up.'
