Kieran Culkin to Star in New Disney Animated Film 'Clay' Slated for 2028 Release
Walt Disney Animation Studios is working on a new original film called 'Clay,' which will be released in theaters in November 2028. The project was announced at Disney's Entertainment Showcase at D23, where Kieran Culkin was revealed to lead the voice cast as Flip, the protagonist.
Culkin, known for his Emmy-winning role as Roman Roy on HBO's 'Succession,' will be voicing a character who is tasked with mentoring a young student named Mushi. However, things take an unexpected turn when Flip runs away in the middle of the night, only to discover that Mushi is inescapable and pure chaos.
The story follows Flip as he must keep Mushi alive on a journey through a fantastical forest. Walt Disney Animation chief Jared Bush described the film's unique approach by saying, 'We have a rich history of stories that celebrate inspiring mentors and their aspirational students. So, with that in mind, we asked ourselves one very important question: What if the next Disney mentor stunk?'
Culkin won an Oscar for his role in 'A Real Pain,' and it will be interesting to see how he brings his talents to this new animated film.
