KLM Refuses Compensation for Power Bank Explosion Mid-Flight

KLM Airlines has confirmed that it will not compensate passengers affected by an explosion of former CEO Camiel Eurlings's power bank on a flight from Amsterdam to Curaçao last Thursday.

The Boeing 777 had to return after over five hours in the air, with flames reportedly reaching the ceiling. The cabin crew managed to quickly bring the fire under control.

KLM stated that passengers may submit claims for reasonably incurred costs resulting from the disruption, citing European passenger rights that deem this an extraordinary circumstance. As a result, there is no entitlement to compensation of 600 euros per passenger.
