Knott's Scary Farm Draws Blood with Satirical Disney Maze

Knott's Berry Farm has announced its new haunted mazes for this year's Knott's Scary Farm, which starts on September 17. One of them is 'Inked,' a maze that takes visitors into the world of Mortimer Morbid, an animator whose studio was founded in 1933. The story revolves around Morbid, who bleeds onto a page where he has been drawing a cat resembling Mickey Mouse.

The character comes to life, and things escalate quickly. According to Knott's description, the maze is about 'a legion of murderous toons hellbent on pulling viewers into their twisted world.'

This isn't just another haunted maze; it's a clever reference to Disney. The park has been throwing shade at Disney again, but this time with a twist. The concept behind 'Inked' is brilliant and not meant as an insult. It takes a truth and runs with it in an absurd direction.

The idea of an artist pouring their literal blood into their work and the work taking on a life of its own is satirical. This echoes Walt Disney's dedication to his craft, from his first Oswald cartoons with Ub Iwerks to building Disneyland with his brother Roy. Mickey Mouse may not be murderous, but he has indeed pulled millions into his world.
