Korean Air Lands $44.8B Deal for Next-Gen Aircraft and Engines
Korean Air has finalized a massive deal with Boeing to acquire next-generation aircraft and engines. The agreement, worth $44.8 billion, includes the purchase of 103 planes and 21 spare engines from GE Aerospace and CFM International.
The order consists of 20 Boeing 777-9s, 25 Boeing 787-10s, 50 Boeing 737-10s, and eight Boeing 777-8F freighters. This investment will support Korean Air's capacity growth following the integration with Asiana Airlines.
The transition to next-generation models is expected to improve overall fleet fuel efficiency and help the airline meet its carbon reduction goals. The deal also includes a 15-year engine maintenance contract.
