Korean Air Lands 777-8 Freighters in Wider Boeing Deal
Korean Air has finalized an order for eight Boeing 777-8 Freighters as part of its wider deal for 103 aircraft. The order is valued at hundreds of millions, if not billions, but no exact figure was provided by Boeing or Korean Air.
The agreement also includes the purchase of 20 777-9s, 25 787-10s, and 50 737-10s, making it Korean Air's largest-ever aircraft order. The order will support the airline's fleet modernization strategy as it prepares to operate as a larger unified carrier following its integration with Asiana Airlines.
The Boeing 777-8 Freighter is touted as the world's largest and most capable twin-engine freighter, offering improved efficiency and lower emissions compared to existing large freighters. According to Boeing, the aircraft will have the highest payload and lowest operating cost per tonne of any large freighter, with a 30% better fuel efficiency and emissions than its predecessors.
