Korean Air Lands Record Boeing Deal Worth Over $36 Billion
Korean Air has finalized an order for 103 Boeing aircraft worth $36.2 billion at list prices, marking the largest deal in its history.
The order includes a mix of wide-body passenger jets, freighters, and single-aisle planes, with 20 777-9s, 25 787-10s, 50 737-10s, and eight 777-8 Freighters. However, only the 787 is currently certified for commercial service.
Korean Air also signed an $8.6 billion deal for spare engines from GE Aerospace and CFM International and a 15-year engine maintenance agreement covering 28 aircraft. The total package is valued at $44.8 billion.
The airline's CEO, Cho Won-tae, described the completion of the agreements as a significant milestone that underscores ties between the United States and South Korea. He also mentioned that the new aircraft will help Korean Air expand to more destinations in the US and Latin America and replace existing planes.
