Korean Air Orders 103 Boeing Aircraft in Major Fleet Modernization Move
Korean Air has finalized an order for 103 aircraft from Boeing as part of its long-term fleet modernization plan. The deal includes 20 Boeing 777-9, 25 Boeing 787-10, 50 737-10, and eight 777-8F.
The order fulfills a procurement commitment made in August 2025 and is valued at approximately $8.6 billion for spare engines and engine maintenance contracts with GE Aerospace and CFM International.
Korean Air's Chairman and CEO Walter Cho stated that the deal represents a significant investment in the airline's future, enabling it to standardize its operations around five aircraft families: the Boeing 777, 787, and 737, as well as the Airbus A350 and A321neo.
The fleet modernization plan aims to improve fuel efficiency, support capacity growth following the Asiana Airlines integration, and reduce carbon emissions. Korean Air will leverage this investment to strengthen its competitive edge in the industry.
