Kubkowski Completes Record-Breaking Swim Across Baltic Sea

Polish long-distance swimmer Bartłomiej 'Foka' Kubkowski has successfully completed his fifth attempt to cross the Baltic Sea, swimming an impressive 160 kilometers in 55 hours.

This feat helped raise nearly €197,421 for the Cancer Fighters Foundation, with funds still being collected as part of the ongoing campaign.

Kubkowski's five attempts at breaking the record have been a long and grueling process. He came closest to achieving his goal in 2025, swimming 159 kilometers but falling short by just 11 kilometers.

According to Kacper Dereń, a member of Kubkowski's support team, the swimmer experienced hallucinations during the final stretch of the challenge. 'He began, quite unexpectedly, to change the direction of his swim,' Dereń said. 'Then he'd stop and ask where on earth we were heading.'

Kubkowski was also seen experiencing extreme fatigue, asking for a bottle of Coca-Cola that had been thrown into the sea by the support team as a morale boost.
