Kyiv Under Siege: Eighth Day of Russian Drone Strikes Causes Widespread Damage
Russia's ongoing attacks on Ukraine continued into Thursday, September 3, 2026, as Kyiv was bombarded by drones overnight. This marks the eighth consecutive day of strikes on the Ukrainian capital. One of the drones hit a plant operated by Coca-Cola HBC near Brovary in the Kyiv region, causing damage and injuring 13 people.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the strike as a message aimed at Washington, given that Coca-Cola is an American company. The attack on the plant also highlights the shortage of air defense systems, which Kyiv is using to press European capitals for faster deliveries.
The strikes caused damage in 13 regions across Ukraine, with five people killed and at least 66 injured nationwide. Ukrainian air defense shot down 135 of the targets, including 163 Shahed type drones and other aircraft used by Russia over 24 hours.
