Lake Ontario Renamed to Lake America in Apple Maps Update

Apple Maps has changed the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America, following in the footsteps of Google. This move comes after an executive order signed by President Donald Trump during a trade dispute with Canada. Apple's change is not uniform across its platforms; while international versions show both names, the Canadian version still displays 'Lake Ontario'.

Both Apple and Google have previously altered the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America in response to similar executive orders from Trump.

MapQuest stands out as an exception, refusing to change the name of either body of water. This decision has reportedly contributed to its top spot on the App Store.
