Lam Meets with JPMorganChase and Visa to Discuss Further Support for Vietnam's Development

Top Vietnamese leaders have been meeting with representatives from JPMorganChase and Visa to discuss further support and cooperation in the country's development.

General Secretary and President Lam met with Troy Rohrbaugh, Co-President of JPMorganChase, who expressed his desire to continue cooperating with and investing in Vietnam. He noted that the international investment community highly values Vietnam's macro-economic stability and long-term growth potential.

Lam praised JPMorganChase's reputation and contributions to advising the Vietnamese government and businesses on raising capital in international markets. He asked the bank to support the country in accessing international sources of capital, including international bond issuance and export credit, to serve Vietnam's development goals.

In another meeting, Lam welcomed Visa's over 30 years of engagement with the Vietnamese market and expressed hope for further cooperation in digital payments. Robert Thomson, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Government Affairs at Visa, emphasized the company's desire to deepen cooperation with Vietnamese partners and support Vietnam's digital transformation efforts.

The leaders discussed various initiatives, including expanding digital payments in the public sector, developing convenient and integrated digital public transport, and building a digital tourism ecosystem. They also agreed on the importance of sharing international experience and expertise in debt management and State foreign exchange reserves to help Vietnam achieve investment-grade credit ratings.
