LA's Giant Skeletons Refuse to Die

The giant skeletons that were originally designed as Halloween decorations have become a year-round fixture in Los Angeles neighborhoods. Released by Home Depot in 2020, the 12-foot skeleton known as 'Skelly' has evolved from a meme to a movement, with many owners leaving them up indefinitely.

According to Tyler Bradberry, who has kept his skeleton up since 2020, space is expensive in LA and it's easier to just leave it out. He also believes that the skeletons add some much-needed personality to the neighborhood, saying 'Everyone wants their house to look like a square box.'

The skeletons have become a point of contention for some homeowners associations and cities, with some owners facing fines or complaints from neighbors. However, many residents see them as a beloved part of the community.
