LaserVault ViTL Adds iSCSI Support for IBM i Environments
LaserVault ViTL, a virtual tape library designed for IBM i environments, now supports iSCSI connectivity. This new capability expands deployment options for IBM Power Systems environments, including on-premises, cloud, and hybrid configurations.
iSCSI connectivity allows IBM i systems to connect to the ViTL virtual tape library over standard Ethernet networks without requiring specialized Fibre Channel or SAS connectivity.
According to Al Jensen, Vice President at LaserVault, 'These results demonstrate the potential of iSCSI connectivity to deliver substantial throughput while using standard Ethernet infrastructure.'
The new capability preserves familiar IBM i backup and recovery workflows. ViTL presents itself to IBM i as a tape library and tape drive, allowing customers to continue using established backup and recovery processes.
