LeapXpert and Cisco integrate WhatsApp into Webex for governed messaging
LeapXpert Inc. and Cisco Systems Inc. have announced a new integration that allows Webex users to message clients on WhatsApp directly from the collaboration platform. This move aims to address compliance concerns by bringing client conversations, which typically occur in consumer apps outside corporate control, into a governed environment. The setup uses existing Webex credentials, eliminating the need for a separate login, and ensures data loss prevention for all messages, including client replies. LeapXpert archives the complete conversations for compliance purposes.
The partnership is significant as Webex is used by approximately 300,000 organizations, including nearly every Fortune 500 company. This integration follows Cisco’s recent efforts to enhance compliance and AI governance features within Webex. Avi Pardo, co-founder and chief business officer at LeapXpert, emphasized that the integration helps firms manage risks associated with ungoverned client messaging.
LeapXpert has previously integrated similar governed messaging capabilities with Slack, Microsoft Teams, and its own chat app. The company also launched Maxen in 2024 to extract generative AI insights from client conversations. The Webex integration is now available on the Webex App Hub and requires a Webex license along with a Leap Work account from LeapXpert. The startup is showcasing the feature at Cisco’s WebexOne conference in Austin, Texas, this week.
The integration comes after LeapXpert raised $180 million in a growth round led by Riverwood Capital, with existing investor Portage Ventures also participating. The funds were intended for expansion in financial services and government sectors. Lloyds Bank plc and SoftBank Group Corp. are among the hundreds of businesses already using LeapXpert’s services.
