Legend Holdings Sells Stake in Luxembourg Bank BIL to Goldman Sachs
Legend Holdings, the parent company of Lenovo, has initiated the formal sale process for its 90% stake in Banque Internationale à Luxembourg (BIL) with the assistance of Goldman Sachs. According to sources, the first round of bidding is expected to close around the end of this month. The potential valuation of BIL is estimated at around €2.5 billion or higher.
The sale process comes after Lenovo acquired a 90% stake in BIL from Precision Capital in 2017 for approximately €1.6 billion. Since then, BIL has seen significant growth, with its net profit increasing by 24% to €210 million as of the end of 2025. The bank's assets under management have also increased by 7% to €50 billion during the same period.
Legend Holdings has received initial interest from European and Middle Eastern institutions, but negotiations are still in the early stages, making it uncertain whether the deal will be finalized. As BIL is a significant player in the Luxembourg financial market, the sale of its stake could have implications for the local banking industry.
