LEGO Revives Microscale Concept in New Themes
The LEGO Group's recent reveals for Harry Potter and Wednesday have brought back a familiar concept - microscale buildings paired with minifigures. This format was previously exclusive to the LEGO Mini Disney range, which recreated theme park icons and castles from Disney Princess stories at a smaller scale.
The new sets, 40975 Mini Hogwarts Castle and 76788 Nevermore Academy, have similarities with the original Mini Disney range. Both feature iconic buildings from their respective franchises, paired with a single minifigure in a display-forward build.
While the prices of the original Mini Disney range were between £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99 and £39.99 / $39.99 / €39.99, 40975 Mini Hogwarts Castle matches the latter despite having more elements. In contrast, 76788 Nevermore Academy has a higher price tag of £59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99 due to its larger size.
The LEGO Group's adoption of this concept is a welcome continuation, even if it means leaving the realm of Disney behind.
