LG Electronics Named Preferred Partner by Nvidia for AI Data Center Cooling
LG Electronics has strengthened its partnership with Nvidia as it joins the US chip giant's preferred partner network for AI data center cooling. The Korean company has been named a preferred partner in Nvidia's official partner network, or NPN, in the power and cooling category.
This move is expected to expand LG's access to global customers building Nvidia-based AI infrastructure and create more opportunities for its cooling systems to be considered from the planning and design stages of new data centers. LG offers chillers and coolant distribution units (CDUs), which circulate coolant to remove heat generated by high-performance AI servers.
The partnership comes after a series of product validations between LG and Nvidia, including the validation of LG's 600-kilowatt CDU in July and its 2.6-megawatt CDU earlier this month. The latter qualified as an Nvidia DSX Ready CDU, meeting reference design requirements for the chipmaker's DSX platform.
LG plans to pursue more megawatt-scale AI data center projects, particularly in North America, targeting hyperscalers and colocation operators. 'Joining the Nvidia partner network is a meaningful milestone that demonstrates in the global market that LG's thermal management technology offers an optimal solution for next-generation AI data center infrastructure,' said Lee Jae-sung, head of LG Electronics' Eco Solution business.
