LG, Nvidia Expand Partnership to Drive Physical AI Innovation
LG Group and Nvidia have expanded their partnership in humanoid robots, AI factories, and mobility to accelerate the spread of artificial intelligence. The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding at Nvidia's headquarters in Santa Clara, California. This marks the next step in their physical AI collaboration.
The agreement will see LG develop its next-generation bipedal humanoid robot using Nvidia's advanced computing technologies. The robot is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2024 and will utilize Nvidia's Jetson Thor high-performance embedded computing module, Isaac GR00T open humanoid foundation model, and Halos robotics safety system.
LG plans to establish an AI factory reference site in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, with a capacity of 80 megawatts. The facility will be designed using Nvidia's Vera Rubin AI platform and will feature prefabricated modular construction to reduce building time by more than 20%.
The expanded partnership also includes the development of high-performance computing platforms for next-generation AI-defined vehicles. LG aims to offer integrated solutions combining self-driving functions with in-vehicle AI services to global automakers.
