Liberia's First Commercial Broadband Programme Connects Communities and Prepares Them for AI
CSquared has completed its commercial broadband programme in Liberia, marking a significant milestone in the country's digital transformation. The programme, which was supported by Microsoft and local partners, combined community broadband infrastructure with digital skills training.
The initiative aimed to test whether affordable broadband and digital skills could support greater digital participation and future AI readiness without continued subsidy.
Key outcomes of the programme include the deployment of community Wi-Fi across Ganta's busiest areas, a 20-seat digital learning laboratory established at J.W. Pearson Public School, over 1,200 students gaining digital skills training, and the service transitioning from a free pilot to commercial operation.
