Lincolnville Residents Come Together for Community Cleanup

A community cleanup event is being organized in Lincolnville to help the family of the late Tracey Herrick. The event will take place on September 19, and residents are invited to participate. Susan Silverio wrote about a personal experience with monarch butterflies in her garden, where she planted milkweed and observed the life cycle of these beautiful creatures.

Susan Silverio's stand of milkweed has flourished despite the drought, attracting monarchs all summer long. The first caterpillar has now emerged, which local expert Cyrene Slegona notes will be the ones migrating at this time of year. The Community Library is also cultivating milkweed and other native plants to support pollinators, and is registered as a Monarch Waystation.
