Local Businesses Rally Around Dix Street Elementary After Fire Destroys School Supplies

A fire at Dix Street Elementary in Plainwell, Michigan, has left students and staff without essential supplies. Local businesses are stepping up to help, including Appliance Patch Store manager Alexiss Simmons.

The store is collecting donations for the school and offering a $20 discount on purchases for those who donate. This includes everything from microwaves to washers, with prices significantly lower than at Home Depot.

The Plainwell Meijer donated about $5,000 worth of school supplies, including notebooks, filler paper, pencils, pens, crayons, and more.

Additionally, the First Congregational Church of Otsego is hosting a Kidsfest event that will also serve as a drop-off site for school supplies. The event will feature free attractions, food, vendors, and much more.
