Long Island Aims for Broader Electric Vehicle Charging Network
PSEG Long Island has provided rebates for more than 2,000 electric vehicle (EV) chargers to businesses and organizations across Long Island, aiming to reduce 'range anxiety' for drivers.
The utility company's EV Make Ready program has been helping charge point operators (CPOs), developers, and business owners offset the costs of installing EV charging ports since 2021. The goal is to create a broader EV charging network throughout the community.
In Elmont and Levittown, Get Charged Fast EV Charging received over $928,000 in rebates from PSEG Long Island to install 16 universal chargers at two locations: eight at Home Depot on Hempstead Tpke. and eight at Nassau Mall. The installation will support the growth of the EV charging network.
PSEG Long Island's Electric Vehicle program manager, Paul DiBenedetto, said, 'PSEG Long Island created the EV Make Ready program to help promote the build-out of EV fast-charging stations in public places.'
