Longtime Beacon Resident and Firefighter Denny Lahey Passes Away

Dennis J. Lahey, also known as Denny, passed away at the age of 92 on September 18, 2026, surrounded by his family at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital.

He was born in Poughkeepsie on October 23, 1933, and served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict.

After being honorably discharged, Denny worked at IBM for 34 years before retiring. He also spent over 65 years as an active member of the Beacon Fire Department, holding various positions including Chief.

During his lifetime, Denny enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and watching Turner Classic Movies. He treasured time with his family and was proud to attend their sporting events and milestones.
