Loving Husband and Community Leader Leaves Lasting Legacy
Jeffrey William McAllister, an 86-year-old man from Kelowna, passed away on September 29, 2026. He was born in Port Alberni, British Columbia, and grew up throughout Vancouver Island, where he developed a lifelong love for the ocean.
McAllister met his future wife Kitty while attending UBC, and they started dating after he made sure to be on the same ferry back to Vancouver. They married in 1964 and spent 62 years together, raising their children Sandy and Gord in Kamloops.
Throughout his life, McAllister worked as a salesman for Addison-Wesley and IBM before becoming a general insurance broker with Underwriters Insurance in Kamloops. However, it was outside of the office where he made a lasting impact.
As an active Rotarian for 40 years, McAllister dedicated himself to the youth exchange program, receiving the Paul Harris recognition for his dedication and generosity. He was known for connecting people with friendships, opportunities, and advice, often picking up the phone when someone needed it most.
