Rory McIlroy praised his close friend Shane Lowry after his dominant win at the Amgen Irish Open. Lowry's victory was a record-breaking 23-under-par total, securing an 11-shot win.

The triumph propelled Lowry back into the world's top 50 and boosted his chances of making Europe's Ryder Cup team for next year's contest at Adare Manor. McIlroy, who spoke in a pre-BMW PGA Championship press conference, acknowledged that form is temporary but class is permanent.

Lowry had a stellar performance, posting a course-record 62 in the second round and signing off with an impressive 63 to secure his seventh DP World Tour victory and first in almost four years. McIlroy noted that Lowry's win would likely improve his final-round approach, as he has struggled in this area over the past couple of years.
