Lowry Fights for Irish Open Lead as McIlroy Stumbles

At the Irish Amgen Open in Doonbeg, Shane Lowry battled it out for the lead with Jacob Skov Olesen. Lowry got off to a dream start, draining a 31-foot putt for birdie on the first hole, but he faltered on the fourth with a bogey after overshooting the green from the weeds.

Olesen chased down the leader with three birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the eighth, only to be matched by Haotong Li. Lowry responded with his own big birdie effort to stay one in front at 13-under par at the halfway mark.

Rory McIlroy had a nightmare front nine with two double-bogeys and one bogey after a promising eagle attempt on the fourth. He struggled to build on that momentum, eventually shooting 40 on the front nine.
