Luck Stone Expands Autonomous Hauling to Two More Virginia Plants
Luck Stone has expanded its use of autonomous hauling technology to two more plants in Virginia, building on its successful collaboration with Caterpillar. The company first introduced autonomous hauling at its Bull Run Plant in Chantilly, Virginia, where over 3.5 million tons have been hauled autonomously since November 2024.
The expansion will integrate Caterpillar's autonomous hauling technology across two fleets of Cat 775 trucks at the Boscobel and Bealeton plants. This marks the first time Caterpillar has deployed its autonomous haulage solution on the Cat 775 model.
According to Travis Chewning, vice president of engineering and operations support at Luck Stone, 'autonomy is creating a safer workplace that improves consistency for our customers and gives our associates opportunities to develop new skills as our industry continues to evolve.'
