Lufthansa Boosts Boeing Order with 20 More 737 MAX Aircraft
Lufthansa Group has solidified its commitment to Boeing by exercising options for 20 additional Boeing 737-10 aircraft. This move follows a previous order in 2023 for 40 Boeing 737-8 aircraft and securing options for 60 more. The total number of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft ordered now stands at 100.
The deliveries are scheduled to begin in the early 2030s, with these new planes gradually replacing older Airbus A320 family aircraft across Lufthansa's airlines. The Boeing 737-10 is the largest member of the 737 MAX family and boasts more seats than the already ordered Boeing 737-8.
Compared to the aircraft it will replace, the Boeing 737-10 offers a significant reduction in fuel consumption, approximately 30%, along with lower unit costs by around 20% due to its increased seating capacity. This upgrade is expected to provide substantial operational efficiency and cost savings for Lufthansa.
