Lufthansa Chooses Boeing Over Airbus with MAX 10 Order
Lufthansa has placed an order for 20 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft to replace older Airbus A320-family jets. The list value of this order is approximately $3.4 billion, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the early 2030s.
This decision marks a significant shift for Lufthansa, which has traditionally been an Airbus stronghold in Europe. However, the airline notes that it still has a large Airbus backlog and expects to take more than 250 new aircraft by 2035.
The Boeing 737 MAX 10 offers improved fuel efficiency and lower unit costs compared to its predecessor, making it an attractive option for Lufthansa's operations. The airline cites figures of around 30% better fuel performance and 20% lower unit costs over the older Airbus A320-family jets.
