Lufthansa Diverts Flight After Burning Odor and Smoke Reported in Cabin

Lufthansa flight LH470 was forced to divert from its route to Toronto after a burning odor and smoke were reported in the cabin.

The Boeing 747-400, which departed from Frankfurt International, landed safely at Manchester Airport with all 371 passengers on board. An investigation into the cause of the smell is ongoing.

A second Boeing 747 was dispatched to Manchester to pick up the stranded passengers and continue their journey to Toronto. This move came after a passenger reported seeing smoke in the cabin and another claimed to have smelled burning.

The incident highlights the continued use of aging aircraft, with Lufthansa's fleet including several 25-year-old Boeing 747s.
