Lufthansa Group has expanded its Boeing 737 MAX fleet with an order for 20 of the largest member aircraft, the MAX 10. The group's Supervisory Board approved the exercise of options for these planes, which were secured as part of a 2023 order for 40 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

The latest order brings Lufthansa Group's total Boeing 737 MAX order volume to 60 aircraft. Deliveries of the new MAX 10s are scheduled to begin in the early 2030s and will gradually replace older Airbus A320 family aircraft across the group.

The Boeing 737 MAX 10 consumes approximately 30 per cent less fuel than the planes it is intended to replace, according to Lufthansa Group. Its higher seating capacity is also expected to reduce unit costs by around 20 per cent.
