Lufthansa Group has placed an order for 20 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft to replace older Airbus A320-family planes. The deal, announced on September 17, includes options under a 2023 contract for 40 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.

The total firm orders for the MAX-family aircraft by Lufthansa Group now stand at 60 units. According to the company's estimates, the list value of the order for 20 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft is approximately $3.4 billion.

The new aircraft are expected to deliver in the early 2030s and will consume around 30% less fuel than their predecessors. Lufthansa Group also expects unit costs to decrease by about 20% due to the larger cabin capacity of the Boeing 737 MAX 10.
