Lufthansa Orders 20 Boeing MAX 10 Jets to Boost Fleet Efficiency
Lufthansa Group has approved the purchase of 20 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft to accelerate the renewal of its short- and medium-haul fleet. This move comes as part of the airline group's broader fleet modernisation programme, which includes plans to receive over 250 new aircraft by 2035.
The newly ordered aircraft are scheduled for delivery in the early 2030s, with the aim of gradually replacing older Airbus A320-family jets across the group. The MAX 10 offers greater seating capacity than the MAX 8 and is expected to improve operating efficiency on European routes.
Lufthansa said that the new aircraft will consume about 30% less fuel than those they are intended to replace, while their higher seating capacity is expected to cut unit costs by around 20%. This move is seen as a step towards reducing the airline's environmental impact and improving its bottom line.
