Lufthansa Rejects Early 777-9 Deliveries Amid Development Concerns

Lufthansa has joined Emirates in rejecting early-built Boeing 777Xs, according to CEO Carsten Spohr. In a statement, he confirmed that the airline is in talks with Boeing about which aircraft it will not accept for commercial service and which can be modernized with financial support from Boeing.

The decision comes after the first 777-9 with a full interior for Lufthansa made its inaugural flight in May. The move suggests that some airlines may be hesitant to take delivery of early-built 777Xs due to potential issues or delays in their development.

Lufthansa's stance on the issue is significant, as it was one of the first customers to order the 777-9 and has been closely involved in its development. The airline's decision may also set a precedent for other carriers considering the purchase of early-built 777Xs.
