Lululemon Cracks Down on American Express Platinum Card Perk

The American Express Platinum card's $75 quarterly Lululemon credit has become more restrictive. To use this perk, cardholders must activate it annually through the online portal and plan their purchases carefully to avoid losing value.

Gift card purchases are now limited, with e-gift cards and split-tendered physical gift cards no longer qualifying for the $75 credit. However, users can still stack the credit with Rakuten, Amex Offers, or educator/military discounts to maximize savings.

Lululemon's policy changes aim to steer customers towards full-price merchandise, but cardholders can mitigate this by buying gift cards in $50 or $100 denominations, which can then be resold for a profit. Unfortunately, unused quarterly credits expire without rollover, so it's essential to remember to activate and spend the credit each quarter.

Cardholders who forget to activate the perk will lose their quarterly savings, as there is no carryover or rollover of unused credits.
