M5 MacBook Air Stock Shortages Worsen Amid Memory Cost Surge
Apple's M5 MacBook Air is struggling to meet demand due to rising memory and storage costs. Despite two price hikes this year, buyers are facing delivery estimates of up to late August when ordering directly from Apple.
The latest model includes 512GB of storage, a significant increase over the previous 256GB. However, prices have risen accordingly, with the starting price now at $1,299 after initial increases in March and June.
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, retail sources describe the MacBook Air as 'more constrained than they can ever recall.' Apple has also added a subject-to-availability warning to its recent back-to-school promotion, which is unusual given that the company rarely highlights supply limits for products released several months earlier.
