Mahindra Integrates Google Cloud AI Agent into Production Vehicle
Mahindra has become the first Indian carmaker to integrate a Google Cloud AI agent into its production vehicle. The company announced TEQ_Talk, a conversational voice assistant that debuts on the new BE 6 SPORTEQ series and runs on the automotive agent in Gemini Enterprise. This AI agent handles over 200 vehicle functions, including navigation, entertainment, news, climate and cabin controls, and the owner's manual.
The assistant is part of MAIA, Mahindra's own AI architecture, which has been rebuilt around Gemini models instead of a fixed list of trigger phrases. This means drivers no longer have to remember the exact wording the car expects. For example, saying 'Hey MAIA, it's a little cold in here' allows the system to adjust the AC or shut the windows accordingly.
Google Cloud calls this its first automotive AI deployment in an Indian software-defined vehicle. Sashi Sreedharan, Managing Director of Google Cloud India, described the partnership as allowing Mahindra to offer more natural conversational interactions across navigation, search, media and communication.
