Maine Store Offers Hugs for Coke on Customer Appreciation Day
The Levant Corner Store in Maine's Levant offered an unusual promotion during its Customer Appreciation Day on September 19, 2026. A Coca-Cola vending machine was set up to dispense a free drink when customers hugged it.
Coca-Cola loaned the interactive machine to the store as part of the event. The business also provided free hot dogs and held a raffle for Boston Red Sox tickets.
The store's General Manager, Lance Allard, said they wanted to help their regular customers who are dealing with rising everyday expenses. As an additional gesture of goodwill, 10 cents from every gallon of gasoline sold during the event was pledged to the Christine B. Foundation in Bangor, which supports local cancer patients.
