Malaysia Airlines Nears Deal for First Boeing 787 Dreamliners

Malaysia Airlines is close to placing an order for its first-ever Boeing 787 Dreamliners, according to Bloomberg. The airline's parent company, Malaysia Aviation Group, is reportedly weighing up a deal for 10 of the largest Dreamliner variant, the 787-10.

The move comes as Malaysia Aviation Group looks to replace seven leased Airbus A350s currently in operation and expand its widebody fleet. Boeing has emerged ahead of Airbus by offering earlier delivery slots starting from 2031.

Captain Nasaruddin Bakar, President and CEO of Malaysia Aviation Group, previously mentioned that the airline would need at least seven new aircraft to replace the leased A350s, but is also looking to add more widebodies for growth. Aircraft under consideration as replacements include the 787-9, 777X, and Airbus's own A350-1000.
