Malaysia has imposed a ban on the use of Google’s navigation app Waze by its civil servants, citing security concerns related to the app’s Israeli ties. The decision was announced by Chief Secretary to the Government Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, following a meeting of the National Cyber Security Committee chaired by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

The government circular stated that Waze, which is based in Israel, is now prohibited for use within the public service. The ban was implemented to address potential security risks associated with the app’s operations.
