Mamdani Forms Business Council Despite Wall Street and Tech Rejection
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is trying to mend his rocky relationship with the business community by forming a Business Advisory Council, which includes 15 prominent executives from various industries.
The council's members include CEOs like Hamdi Ulukaya of Chobani and Kruti Patel Goyal of Etsy, as well as Scott Rechler of RXR and Keia Clarke of the New York Liberty.
However, several major business leaders in New York City declined to join the council, including executives from JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, American Express, BlackRock, Meta, and Alphabet. The reasons for their refusal are unclear, but some cited concerns about media attention or time commitments.
