Mangione Pleads Guilty to Federal Stalking Counts in UnitedHealthcare CEO Slaying

Luigi Mangione, accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, pleaded guilty to two federal stalking counts in court. He admitted to shooting Thompson during an investor conference in New York City on December 4, 2024.

Mangione said he researched the event online and learned the exact location by posing as an investor with over $50 million in capital via email. He then traveled to New York and shot Thompson in the back.

The judge accepted Mangione's plea, which may complicate his murder prosecution in state court. His defense attorneys have filed a motion to dismiss the state charges under New York's double jeopardy law.
